Exhausthorn, (2024)

270 x 40 x 16cm

Stainless steel exhaust tubes in 3 parts, 2 stainless steel reducers, buffalo horn, polyurethane ring, screws, and mouthpiece.

Exhausthorn merging car exhaust pipes and a buffalo horn is the description of the two conceptual and material sources that Papandreopoulos engineered into a complex sculpture that produces an ancient, haunting sound when blown into like a trombone. The sculpture’s dragon-like shape, with two horn-like antennas around the neck, draws from the Celtic carnyx, which along with its long anatomical form and physically demanding interaction emphasizes its masculine performativity. This piece, along with its audio works, extends the exhibition’s sensory experience, adding a reinforcing experiential dimension.
